PROJECT SUMMARY

Background:

Ancient Egypt is one of the world’s earliest civilizations, known for its monumental pyramids, temples, and tombs, including the Fourth Dynasty pyramids of Giza, the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the World. These structures reflect the wealth, power, and architectural sophistication of the era.

Ancient Egyptians recorded their language using hieroglyphs, a sacred writing system believed to be a gift from the gods. Known as medu netjer, “the gods’ words”, hieroglyphs combined symbols for meaning, sound, and clarity. The word hieroglyph comes from the Greek hiero ‘holy’ and glypho ‘writing’. Engraved on temple walls and tombs, each symbol tells a story and reveals how Egyptian culture evolved. Exploring these ancient markings invites curious minds to uncover their meaning and embark on a journey through history.

Challenge:

Design a travel brochure which shows a 14-day adventurous journey to Egypt by G Adventures. This CONCEPTUAL brochure will transport the reader into the visual space of the environment and invite them to discover something new in a familiar place or become familiar with a new location. This effective tour brochure will be full of maps, pictures of specific spots, information about must-visit sites, and unique photos, diagrams and illustrations to heighten the reader’s curiosity. The brochure will have a strong SLOGAN that puts an original twist on the set of tours and guides the design choices for the overall layout.

MY APPROACH

Background:

I incorporated ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs into the background’s design to give it a historical or cultural theme. This implies a deliberate design choice to add a unique and visually interesting element to the background.

Illustrations:

Ancient Egyptian civilization had a rich and complex pantheon of Gods and Goddesses, each associated with specific attributes, functions, and symbolism. I illustrated these Gods and symbols to create visual references to help others understand and appreciate the mythology and religious beliefs of ancient Egypt.

Maps:

I mapped out the journey day by day to create a structured and organized visual guide for tourists, making it easier for them to follow the itinerary and explore the various locations throughout the 14-day trip.

The purpose of these maps is to provide visual representations of the itinerary, highlighting the specific places and destinations that tourists will visit on each day of their journey.

These maps are not just simple directions but are likely visually engaging, featuring landmarks, cultural sites, and other relevant information to enhance the tourists’ understanding and experience.

A concealed message was ingeniously embedded within the brochure, waiting to be uncovered by those with a discerning eye and a penchant for exploration.
